Job description

Our Digital Marketing department is in search of an Online Content Coordinator to join their team to manage the Cape Union Mart portfolio. This person will report to the Digital Brand Leader and is responsible for strategic digital marketing activities as well as conceptualizing, producing & executing the portfolio’s online content across all the brand channels.

You will be planning and executing, together with the Digital Brand Leader, E-Commerce and Buying teams, an online content strategy primarily concerned with driving online sales, increasing traffic to and engagement with online products and creating and testing effective user journeys through content to product.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Analyse how the Cape Union Mart brand is positioned in the market relative to competitors
  • Interpret consumer insights and trends for actionable and measurable market strategies
  • Take brand ownership and provide the vision, mission, goals and strategies
  • Translate brand strategies into brand plans, brand positioning and go-to-market strategies
  • Lead creative development and create motivating stimulus to get target market to “take action”
  • Establish performance specifications and sales estimates as campaign KPIs
  • Measure and report performance of all marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
  • Monitor market trends, research consumer markets and competitors’ activities to identify opportunities and key issues
  • Implement and execute marketing and advertising activities to ensure consistency with product strategy
  • Brainstorm new and innovative growth strategies
  • Align the merchandise buyers and the business with direction of the Brand’s marketing, strategic choices and tactics
  • Development and implementation of relevant and effective marketing and promotional campaigns in collaboration with an internal and external creative agency and/or freelance designers
  • Creation and management of promotional and communication calendar for the brand
  • Maintenance of all product categories, visuals and content on the website
  • Ensure that all user driven content is appropriately catered for on the website

  • Highly creative with ability to think out of the box
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate

  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking

  • Up-to-date with latest trends and marketing best practices
  • Comfortable working with numbers, metrics and spreadsheets



  • A minimum of two to three years’ working experience in a digital marketing or content role
  • A related tertiary qualification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite as well as the ability to manage social media platforms (essential)
  • A strong work ethic and methodical work approach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Business writing skills and acumen
  • Strong administration and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of: the Outdoor and Electronics industry and trends; Online market trends; Retail cycle and Google Analytics
