Events Intern at Médecins Sans Frontierès 2018
Doctors without Borders (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation committed to two objectives: providing medical assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion, natural and man-made disasters; and speaking out about the plight of the populations assisted.
We have an Events Internship at Médecins Sans Frontierès 2018.
What is Friends of MSF (FoMSF)?
- The official student support organisation for MSF, run on a voluntary basis
- Predominantly for Medical students
- Not part of MSF and does not therefore represent MSF
Objective:
Raise awareness of humanitarian issues and MSF’s work in the field.
Encourage students to work with non-governmental organisations, specifically MSF, at some point in their carrier.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managing Friends of MSF (FoMSF):
- Increase MSF involvement with FoMSF
- Enhance Students interest based FoMSF growth
- Expand FoMSF to other Medical universities e.g Limpopo, Medusa
- Decide, organise and host events (lectures, talks, debates)
- Support MSF initiatives through other departments
- Interact with other Students and FoMSF using social media and newsletter
- Participate in MSF events, debates e.g. Annual General Meeting
- Work with other FoMSF internationally (example, MSF UK)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant Tertiary qualification
- Good standard of spoken and written English
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be a good team-player
- Good organisational skills
- Good networking skills
POSITION DETAILS:
Location: Based in Johannesburg
Contract type: 6 months with possible extension
Basic monthly salary
Applicants need to have the necessary permission and valid documents to work in SA
